Empowering Batteries with a “Digital Passport” Farasis Energy Leads the Way with Battery Passport Pilot Launch

On April 25, 2025, the Product Digital Passport (DPP) International Seminar brought together industry leaders to spotlight innovations in digital compliance and sustainability. At the event, Farasis Energy officially launched its Battery Passport Pilot Project and participated in the unveiling of China’s national battery passport initiative—marking a key milestone in the company’s progress toward full lifecycle compliance and digital transformation. This achievement reflects Farasis Energy’s proactive role in aligning with global regulatory trends and advancing sustainable development.

Led by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), the battery passport platform is among the first in China to align with emerging international standards. Farasis Energy was one of the earliest companies to complete a successful pilot project on the platform, integrating structured data collection, classification management, and QR-code-based traceability at the battery pack level. The pilot was also linked with China’s national battery passport registry, demonstrating a practical model for future interoperability between Chinese and European battery passport systems. More broadly, it showcases how digital tools can enable transparent, full-lifecycle product management and shared responsibility across the battery value chain.

With full enforcement of the EU Battery Regulation (EU 2023/1542) on the horizon, Farasis Energy began preparing its lifecycle compliance systems from the moment the regulation was introduced—making it one of the earliest movers in the industry. Drawing on years of hands-on experience supplying battery systems to European OEMs, the company has established robust mechanisms for export compliance, regulatory alignment, and collaborative customer data integration. These capabilities provided a strong operational foundation for the battery passport pilot, ensuring that its development was grounded in real-world business scenarios and data.

The successful launch of Farasis Energy’s battery passport pilot not only reflects the company’s deep expertise and precision in full lifecycle product management but also marks a strategic breakthrough across three key dimensions: compliance operations, data capability building, and sustainable value creation. Through its battery passport data governance framework, Farasis Energy is not only well-positioned to meet the EU’s increasingly stringent regulatory requirements but also to transform compliance excellence into brand equity and customer trust — further strengthening its leadership position within the global power battery value chain.

Looking ahead, Farasis Energy will continue to advance technological innovation, green manufacturing, and digital compliance pathways. The company is committed to deepening collaboration with industry partners, regulatory bodies, and technical platforms, actively contributing to the development of battery passport data standards, platform rules, and cross-border mutual recognition mechanisms — driving the creation of a more transparent, efficient, and trusted global green supply chain ecosystem.
